WOMEN CHOOSE THE NEWS

Think of NewsMavens as a news roundup about what's most important in Europe today, done by women from top EU media brands.

MEET THE MAVENS

NewsMavens is a collaboration between professional women journalists in Europe -- either from partnering news organizations or working freelance. Together we create a daily news roundup about what's most important in Europe today from a woman’s perspective.

WHY
ARE WE DOING THIS?

Because women represent only on average 27% OF TOP MANAGEMENT in European news rooms, and because the REPORTING ON EUROPE BECOME EXCLUSIVE to English speaking countries, we aim to curate news about current events from EACH EU COUNTRY from the under-represented, FEMALE PERSPECTIVE.

HOW DO WE DO IT

We compile a daily recap of the most important news from Europe and a weekend review of the most relevant stories. Every now and then we will catch up with an international woman of influence and ask her to tell us about the stories that matter most to her.

WHAT WE WANT TO DISCOVER

We want answers to some burning questions. Does gender imbalance in newsroom management affect how the story of modern Europe is told? Will hand-picked and intelligently justified news recommendations create global interest? And finally, will collaboration be the next disruption for the news industry?
We don't know. Yet.
