July 24 was a seemingly normal day in Paris. Marie Laguerre was out. Near a café, she bumped into a man. He started making vulgar sexual comments about her appearance. Exasperated, she told him to shut up.

First he threw an ashtray at her, then came back and slapped her.

The aggression was recorded by a security camera in Paris and released, sending shockwaves across French society.

After this scandalous event, Laguerre has launched a website named Nous Toutes Harcèlement. The aim is for people can share their stories and experiences of street harassment in France.

Marie Laguerre's story shows how street harassment and assault remains frequent in France, even post #MeToo and #BalanceTonPorc.
